We have some awesome news for anyone who’s been considering becoming a PC! It has never been easier to become an Elected Precinct Committee Member (PC), and we encourage all committed Democrats to apply!

On Thursday March 3rd, the Governor signed HB2839 into law. This bill contained an emergency provision, which means it became law as soon as it was signed and includes language that significantly changed the process for becoming a Precinct Committee Member with the following provisions:

  • Precinct Committee Members are provided more time to file, as the filing date was moved from April 4th to April 18th
  • The Political Parties will become the filing office instead of the Pima County Elections Department.
  • The Political Parties will be responsible for verifying eligibility of PCs.
  • The Political Parties will be responsible for submitting the names of PCs to the Pima County Board of Supervisors.

What does this mean?

The requirements to be eligible to be a PC do not change.

  • Must be registered to vote.
  • Must be a registered Democrat.
  • Must reside in the Precinct for which you are applying.

The term of office (2 years) for PCs does not change. Individuals who meet the eligibility criteria to become a PC will not be required to gather petition signatures nor submit Nomination papers to the Pima County Recorder’s office.

What is now the process to become a PC in Pima County?

  • If you are currently a PC and wish to continue as a PC, you just need to submit your Nomination Paper from the packet you received in the mail to PCDP Headquarters or to your LD Chair by April 18th. You don’t need to worry about getting signatures for your Partisan Nomination Petition.
    • You can mail your Paper to our Headquarters at 4639 E First St. Tucson, AZ 85711
  • If you no longer wish to be a PC, please reach out to your LD Chair to let them know.
  • If you were not formerly a PC and wish to become a PC, please complete the Write-In Nomination Paper linked below and submit it to PCDP Headquarters no later than April 18th.
  • Each precinct has a quota of the number of PCs allowed to serve. We will be taking applications on a first come, first served basis.

We hope that you get involved and help us Elect More Democrats at ALL levels! Remember, change starts with YOU!
