PCDP Fellowship | Spring 2022

The Pima County Democratic Party is looking for Democrats with a passion for local politics and/or previous political work experience to apply for a paid internship with us this spring. Here at PCDP, our mission is to support and elect local Democratic leaders who will work to enact our platform and will represent the people of Pima County in the state and federal legislatures.

Join us as we set up the stage for the 2022 elections, and see the inner workings of the Pima Democratic Party, local government, and political office first hand!

Each position will require working 20 hours per week. All four positions are paid. If you choose to apply for more than one position, you must submit separate cover letters for each position.

Fundraising Fellowship (2 Available)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Checking in and out with the Director at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Assist the Director with planning and recruiting for fundraising events.
  • Minimum 5 hours required every week of fundraising call time.
  • Manage fundraising stewardship (i.e. Thank you cards, checking in with donors, etc).
  • Assist the Director with designing and sending targeted fundraising email series using fundraising database software such as NGP.
  • Assist the Director with the general fundraising plan for the first and second fiscal quarters.
  • Attend any relevant finance committee meetings.

PREFERRED

  • Previous experience with fundraising database software such as NGP.
  • Previous fundraising experience.
  • Local Tucson knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered to vote as a Democrat in Pima County.
    • Exception: Pima residents authorized to work in the US who are not US citizens. Must demonstrate a commitment to the values of the Democratic party.
  • Able to be in the office during shifts.

Communications Fellowship

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Checking in and out with the Director at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Attending communications team meetings.
  • Working directly with PCDP Corresponding Secretary to ensure that all communications projects are on track.
  • Assist the Director with planning weekly, biweekly, and monthly newsletters directed at targeted audiences.
    • Also assist with creating email series for first-time subscribers.
    • All emails will be sent using NGP7/NGP8.
  • Assist the Director with general communications planning and strategizing.
  • Periodically updating the PCDP website.
  • Using PCDP Website Manager’s Graphics Guidance to create images that promote various events and campaigns. 

PREFERRED

  • Previous experience with political communications.
  • Previous experience with the NGP data system (either the 7 or 8 version).
  • Local Tucson knowledge.
  • Spanish-speaking

REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered to vote as a Democrat in Pima County.
    • Exception: Pima residents authorized to work in the US who are not US citizens. Must demonstrate a commitment to the values of the Democratic party.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Able to be in the office during shifts.

Field Fellowship 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Minimum 10 hours required every week of volunteer recruitment call time.
  • Checking in and out with the Director at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Plan and recruit for events to make calls, register voters, and canvass neighborhoods.
  • Able to train and launch volunteers at events.
  • Use the voter database to schedule and track active volunteer shifts.
  • Alert the Operations Coordinator if more supplies are needed for events.
  • Stay up to date on events that provide opportunities for PCDP exposure and fieldwork.
  • Assist staff as needed.

PREFERRED

  • Previous experience with political campaigns and/or community outreach projects.
  • Previous experience with the VAN data system.
  • Local Tucson knowledge.
  • Spanish-speaking

REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered to vote as a Democrat in Pima County.
    • Exception: Pima residents authorized to work in the US who are not US citizens. Must demonstrate a commitment to the values of the Democratic party.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Able to be in the office during shifts.

The Pima Democratic Party is looking for dedicated students with a passion for local politics to intern with us this Spring. Here at PCDP, our mission is to support and elect local Democratic leaders who will work to enact our platform and will represent the people of Pima County in the state and federal legislatures.

Join us as we set up the stage for the 2022 elections, and see the inner workings of the Pima Democratic Party, local government, and political office first hand!

To complete for credit, you must submit the number of hours you will need to complete to the Director. You will be responsible for completing those required hours for your area of study. These are not paid positions. If you choose to apply for all three positions, you must submit separate cover letters.

Operations Intern (minimum 10 hours per week)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Checking in and out with the Operations Coordinator at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Know all office policies and procedures regarding the office phone, technology, petitions, and visitors to the office.
  • Use knowledge of office policies and procedures to manage volunteers helping in the office.
  • Monitor office supplies and alert the Director about gaps in inventory.
  • Keep the office clean and organized.
  • Organize clean up events to maintain the building (e.g. pulling weeds in the backyard).
  • Assist the Operations Coordinator with volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and confirmation.
  • Use the voter database to schedule and track office volunteer shifts.
  • Assist staff as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be a student residing in Pima County (you do not need to be a US citizen).
  • If you will be 18 on or before the next election, you must be registered to vote as a Democrat.
  • Genuine interest in local politics and/or volunteer management.
  • Able to be in the office building during volunteer shifts.

  • If you will be 18 on or before the next election, you must be registered to vote as a Democrat.
  • Genuine interest in local politics and/or creating social media content for political campaigns.
  • You can complete this internship virtually if needed.
