Pima County Justice for All – Festival of Books
Justice for All needs volunteers this weekend to collect signatures at the Tucson Festival of Books. The campaign has only a few months left to gather signatures for the ballot initiative. When passed, this local initiative would ensure that all families are protected when going through immigration court and that no one goes in front of a judge without legal representation.
In 2019, of the 22,677 families that went through court, 18,059 went alone and as a result a majority faced family separation through deportation. If they could have had access to a court appointed attorney 67% could have remained here.
Tucson needs this initiative to pass and we need your help to do so! Please, come out and help us Saturday and Sunday 9:00am- 6:00pm on the U of A mall. Even if you can only give a couple of hours it will make a difference. We will have some tables for folks with low mobility and we need a lot of help canvassing around the campus and parking garages. We will have scripts for everyone, flyers, petition sheets, pens… anything and everything you need! If you have any questions or time to help PLEASE contact pimajusticeforall@gmail.com OR Katie Jenkins can be reached at 217-828-9134 or Moira Silverman at 520 260 9516.
Thank you in advance for your help.
