Volunteer Recruitment Training & Phone Bank
July 23 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join Legislative District 10 Democrats on Tuesday, July 16th from 5 pm to 7 pm to learn how to recruit volunteers for the important work ahead. We need 500 more volunteers to get the grassroots team we need to elect Democrats up and down the ballot this year in the City of Tucson election and in 2020. We need to start now and we need you. Your trainers are Susie DeHart and Stephanie OLeary.
Following training, you will be able to describe:
• Two types of phone banking;
• Why we make calls and how they result in Democrats being elected;
• Who we call and how and why they are selected;
• Do’s and don’ts of phone banking (Best practices);
• How to frame volunteer opportunities most effectively;
• How to block your phone number from being displayed during phone banking;
• How and why to track your calls efficiently and effectively for accurate records;
Following a slide presentation and practice, you will place volunteer recruitment phone calls for an hour using your own telephone from lists of Democratic-friendly registered voters with a high propensity to volunteer. We will invite them to attend our “Hoppy” Hour beer tasting fundraiser, Presidential Debate Party, and/or our next phone bank.
You will learn how to use your own genuine style to get firm commitments and build meaningful connections with volunteers. You will receive a complete list and description of all volunteer opportunities for the next two months. Following this training, you will know how to do volunteer phone banking from home in your own precinct. This is what must be done this summer to elect Democrats in 2019 and 2020. We can’t do this without you!
Please bring your mobile telephone, your charger, and a closed lid beverage container with your beverage of choice. We have purified water on site. Training is free and all materials will be provided.
Location: Pima County Democratic Headquarters, 4639 E First Street, Tucson (SW of Speedway & Swan)
