Climate Change is Here: How Can the World Adapt? presented by The Tucson Great Decisions Association
November 22 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am
While some people debate climate change, global symptoms seem to clearly point to a significant change in the global climate. The temperature warming in the Arctic, Greenland glacier melt, increase in severe storms and rise in ocean levels present problems to humankind, wildlife and the very existence of some nations. So, the problem facing world leaders today is how can we adapt to this environmental challenge?
This program is presented by Diana Liverman, Regents Professor and Director of the School of Geography and Development at the University of Arizona. She served as the Director of the UA Institute of the Environment and the University of Oxford’s Environmental Change Institute. Her work addresses the causes, consequences and responses to climate change, especially climate vulnerability. Her talk will also address adaptation and governance and the links between environment, sustainable development, and food security. She was a lead author for the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on 1.5°C.
