Operations and Development Coordinator

The Operations and Development Coordinator will work under the direction of the Pima County Democratic Party Executive Director and the Chair to assist in daily fundraising and development operations for the party.  The selected candidate will report  to the Executive Director for all fundraising strategies to include: call time; internal and external event coordination; tabling events; and the administrative requirements of the party headquarters with the end goal of winning elections for Democrats. The ideal selected candidate should have strong connections within the community and with a variety of community organizations (e.g. civic groups, labor organizations, etc.) have fundraising experience, and take direction from the PCDP Chair and Executive Director. A collaborative, friendly, positive attitude is a must in the fast-paced environment of the PCDP Headquarters. 

The Operations and  Development Coordinator reports to the Chair and the Executive Director.

Location of position:  Tucson, Arizona

Start Date:  December 2019

Term:  This position serves at the discretion of the PCDP Chair.

Position Salary:  Total compensation package $25K. Position is half time. 

Termination:  Either party may terminate the employment agreement at any time for any reason, by providing the other party thirty (30) days written notice.

Primary responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Fundraising

Under the direction of the Chair and Executive Director:

  • Call time soliciting donations for PCDP.
  • Developing fundraising strategy and plans of action
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors and potential donors.
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising events to include the Udall Dinner, election parties, tabling events, and other special events planned by PCDP.
  • Maintain database for tracking donors and event coordination
  • Execute all fundraising programs.
  • Create and manage a team of volunteers to staff event coordination, tabling, and ad hoc event committees.
Communications

Under the direction of the Executive Director and Chair:

  • Assist with implementing strategy for PCDP. 
  • Integral member of the communications team
  • Build relationships with media outlets.
  • Craft and coordinate communications messaging and branding using email and letter writing campaigns.
  • Write website, email, blog, and new media content.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish, in addition to English, is a plus.
Field

Assist the PCDP Executive Director to:

  • Develop and coordinate field programs in coordination with candidates and ADP.
  • Hire, train, and manage field staff.
  • Execute community outreach programs.
  • Manage and organize daily operations of the PCDP headquarters building and its staff of volunteers
Candidate Services
  • Assist with coordinated campaigns in communicating with candidates in Pima County.
  • Facilitate coordination between candidates, consultants, and Party.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with fundraising and financial management, specifically with political campaigns.
  • Experience in soliciting and securing donor dollars. 
  • Track record of success in Mid-level management in political campaigns and volunteer coordination (could include public sector, not-for-profit, military service, private industry and/or trade associations). 
  • Bachelor Degree–coursework related to management, leadership, and/or finance is a plus.
  • Experience with Get Out the Vote (GOTV) programs.
  • Proficiency in data base management, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. NGP VAN a plus.
  • Understands the competitive issues; aware of the political landscape and how collaborative strategies around the state work for the betterment of Pima County Democratic Party.
  • Experience in local elections and processes to include contact with City Clerk, Board of Elections, and Municipal government.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and connectivity with the local community leadership, organizations and businesses, including labor, education, and civic organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a credible reputation and high profile presence in the community on behalf of the Pima County Democratic Party.
  • Proven excellence in written and oral communication. 
  • Knowledgeable in current and possible future practices, trends, and other information affecting the Democratic Party in Arizona and the country.
  • Manager of paid staff and volunteers.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Results-oriented. 
  • Open-minded to differing views.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborative, friendly, positive attitude.
