You’ve probably seen in the news that an abandoned email domain belonging to the “Proud Boys” group was commandeered and used to send out threatening emails to voters in several states across the nation. There is some evidence that this was an act of foreign interference. However, the voter information that they used to send the threatening emails is publicly available information, and there is no evidence that there was any voter registration data breach anywhere in the country.

It is important for voters to know that:

  • Arizona’s voter registration database is secure and not affected by incidents reported nationally.
  • The Secretary of State’s Office continues to monitor the security of all election systems vigilantly.
  • It is important to note that the information reportedly utilized for targeted email intimidation by foreign actors is available publicly.
  • Now, more than ever, we urge voters to rely on trusted sources for election information.
