by Dayelle Waugh, Secretary Pima County Young Democrats

Pima County Young Democrats (PCYD) co-hosted the first Tucson mayoral forum with the University of Arizona Young Dems on campus on April 18th. We had an excellent time planning the event and were stunned by the amazing community turnout – almost 300 people! – to hear from Steve Farley, Randi Dorman, and Regina Romero. Because of this fantastic turnout, we were able to raise enough money to sponsor 18 new PCYD members! The community also submitted almost 80 questions about everything from the state of Tucson’s streets to the steps each candidate would take to combat climate change. One of the most frequently submitted questions concerned what they would do, as mayor, to help support our local schools.
We also greatly appreciated the moderating talents of PCYD Vice President Joy Noriega and proud PCYD member Nick Arnold, as well as the time-keeping skills of Chris Fernandez, who is both a U of A Young Dem and PCYD member.
A thousand thank-yous to everyone who came out to support the young people in the party, and for participating so early on in the local election, in November. Our next meeting is May 22. Check our Facebook page for time and location. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions about PCYD, at pimayoungdemocrats@gmail.com.
