The Disability Caucus of the Pima County Democratic Party works to strengthen the party by advocating for full access and integration of disabled people in Democratic Party activities, and to raise awareness about disability-related policy issues.

The caucus held its monthly meeting on May 9 at DIRECT Center for Independence. Attendees discussed accessibility issues relative to the recent-party meeting at Rincon High School. The executive committee has drafted an accessibility resolution that will be reviewed and sent to the State Disability Caucus for a vote in September. The resolution asks that an accessibility assessment be conducted prior to site selection for state meetings.

Zaira Livier talked about the Tucson Families Free and Together initiative – deadline for signatures is July 5, 2019 – and Merrill Eisenberg talked about the Outlaw Dirty Money Initiative – deadline for signatures is July, 2020).

The caucus is hosting a Tucson mayoral forum at its June 15 meeting, 5:30 PM at DIRECT Center for Independence, 1001 N. Alvernon Way.
