Antenori Archives, Day 2: Pima Dems Agree: Antenori Does Not Represent Those Who Call Themselves Tucsonans
The "Antenori Archives" continue today, highlighting State Sen. Frank Antenori's comment that he did not consider himself a Tucsonan.
The Pima County Democratic Party is opening the archives this week, as a service to voters who may have forgotten some of the more stunning statements to come out of Antenori's mouth.
Antenori famously told the Arizona Republic, "Don't call me a Tucsonan. They're all hippies down there," christening a new political tactic -- going negative on the voters. Antenori lives in Tucson, works in Tucson and represents a large number of voters who proudly call Tucson home.
Antenori apparently doesn't like the people he serves as much as the political bosses he serves in Phoenix, said Pima County Democratic Party Chair Jeff Rogers.
"If Antenori thinks so little of us 'down here,' he's welcome to stay in Phoenix," Rogers said. "He does a better job representing the State of Maricopa than the people of southern Arizona, anyway."
Southern Arizona voters should demand a senator who values the community that elects him, Rogers said.
"A little advice to Frank: Most politicians don't last long if they disavow the people and region they represent."
